Equity Music

This was the final project I had to do for my DES 16 class in Spring 2018. I worked with a team of 6 to come up with the color palette for this fictional music streaming platform that promised musical artists equal opportunity and higher pay-per-play rates. While my team decided the color palette for all of us to follow, I thought of the slogan and the logo. The reason why the corners of the logo are rounded is because the logo would be used as an iPhone application icon. Everyone agreed that my "A New Wave" slogan and my retro-inspired vinyl record logo were the best to represent the campaign. Each of my individual posters cycled between the color palette in the slogan and in the symbols. In each poster, the equal sign, which holds a significant meaning in the work "equity," are cleverly placed in the music notes.  Although the requirement of this project in the end was to create only one advertising poster (18"x24"), I created three to make a full poster campaign that could be posted next to each other or all over buildings in the city.

In the images I chose to underlay with clipping masks in Adobe Illustrator, I specifically thought about the audience listening, what typical album cover imagery looks like, and underrated singers/musicians (left-to-right). I thought about diversity and representing minority groups (both racially and professionally in the music industry). I had each picture overlaid with a transparent layer of color that corresponded from our team's color palette.
